MISSION STATEMENT: 

Homeboy Industries provides hope, training, and support to formerly gang-involved and recently incarcerated men and women, allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of our community. 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Career Pathways Lead - Culinary is responsible for managing our culinary pathway program through the Department of Labor Culinary Pathways grant that will include enrollment and tracking of participants.  This position will collaborate closely with the Culinary Training Manager to build culinary curriculum by engaging
industry partners, create internship and job opportunities, organize training sessions, and provide mentorship to program participants. The ideal candidate will have both culinary experience and a passion for mentoring and guiding aspiring culinary professionals.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Maintain communication between Homeboy and Department of Labor
  • Coordinate enrollment of participants in program
  • Track participant activities in DOL database and Care4
  • Collaborate with Culinary Trainer on development of culinary curriculum
  • Prepare data for performance reporting
  • Create culinary career pathways including relationships with culinary employers, internships and employment opportunities.
  • Develop and organize strategies to evaluate implementation of grant requirements.
  • Execute comprehensive administrative support to program staff, ensuring seamless coordination across all participant-related services.  
  • Facilitate collaboration across program departments to optimize service integration and enhance complementarity.
  • Review files and database to ensure quality. Provide monthly reports to supervisor and management.
  • Other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION:
  • B.A. and/or 3+ yrs. experience working in direct services to marginalized population
  • 2+ yrs. experience with administrative oversight and team coordination  
  • 2+ yrs. experience managing partnerships and collaboration

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • Able to relate sensitively to persons of diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Capacity to manage and lead people; a team builder; ability to connect to staff both on an individual level and in groups.
  • Mission driven person with strong work ethic; challenge seeker and problem solver; able to act and react as necessary, even if limited information is available; not afraid to take charge of a situation; can overcome resistance and take unpopular stands when necessary
  • Analyze and prioritize the participant needs by empowering, educating and assisting them to identify solutions.
  • Familiarity of local resources and services
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside of the organization.
  • Able to work in a timely and accurate manner
  • Meet program goals and deadlines
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing

COMPENSATION: 

$26.00 - $27.00
