Job Title: Staff Accountant
Reports To: Director of Finance
Salary: $65,000-$75,000
SUMMARY
As Staff Accountant you will apply accounting and finance principles to assist with financial reporting and government grant fund accounting. We are seeking an analytical and team-oriented accountant who will work on tracking all government grants, participating in the proposal process, expense coding, and invoicing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with month end journal entries in accordance with US GAAP
- Read government grant agreements and contracts with understanding of allowable expenses and invoicing guidelines
- Ensure proper coding of grant expenses and work with programs to understand allowable expenses
- Assist with tracking timesheets for personnel involved with grants
- Create and issue invoices accurately based on grant agreement and ensure timely collection
- Assists in the management of the credit card program
- Prepare bank account reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations as required
- Assists in the maintenance of the General Ledger
- Participate in the financial audit and preparation of required audit support schedules
- Participate in cross training of other roles and responsibilities across the accounting team
- Develop ad-hoc reports and analysis for cross-functional teams and management as requested

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Non-profit experience
- 2 or more years of accounting experience
- Experience with government grants and fund accounting
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
